having trouble getting shauny to drink...

i got shauny home yesterday after a night in the vets , he had suddenly stopped eating, drinking, pooing and weeing. he had to go on a drip, turns out he has a urine infection, which then led to his tummy filling up with fluid. hes on a load of meds, and thankgod is eating hay, broc and beans, weeing and pooing.
but hes not drinking very much at all. wr trying to syringe it to him- but its not working, hes just letting it drip out of his mouth!. we cant seem to get him in the right position either, he squirms and kinda hides his face- any advice please i dont want him to have to go back to the vets. x

Could it be that he is drinking, but because he's been drinking so much extra lately, you don't notice him drinking when he drinks normal amounts?

Did the vet tell you to try to force feed him water?

Because if he's eating himself again, I would think that he's probably drinking himself too. Plus if he's peeing, then he must be drinking something at least.

If you use a water bowl, what about switching to a bottle for awhile? Then at least you can see how much the water goese down so you'll know exactly how much he's drinking.

Good luck! I'm glad you figured out what's wrong with him and got him meds, hopefully he'll be feeling all better soon!
