He ate thread

Hello! I've got a brand new bunny and his name is Hoddy Toddy. He is 10-11 weeks old. I had his water bottle attached to his cage by some sewing thread. I went to re-fill his bottle yesterday and I came back - and the thread was gone! I think he ate it. What should I do?? Will it hurt him? What signs should I be looking for? He is still ravenous and eats all his little pellets and his hay and the little treats I give him of a piece of carrot or sweet potato. He seems to be drinking water like normal. Advice, please!

This could potentially be a big problem, yes. You need to call a rabbit savvy vet in your area to determine the best course of action.

Here is some info on cats ingesting string/thread/etc. which created a linear foreign body. It applies to any animal.
My cat was playing with a string, then ate it. Is this a problem?

Yes, this could be a very serious problem, and may take some time to show up as a problem but by the time its obvious it will be very serious, I recommend a vet consultation

Right, so, I called a rabbit friendly vet and the technician told me to just keep an eye on him and watch for abnormal behavior, eating habits, mood, poo, etc. It happened 2 days ago and nothing so far. I'm hoping it just passes, it wasn't that much thread at all - but he's such a little guy! I'm keeping my fingers crossed ...

Should you see it coming out - do not pull on it. If it's too long and still in the bowel you could sever the bowel and empty the contents into his gut.
My mom's cat ate a thread and it had to be removed surgically. It was already beginning to saw through her intestines and they were not sure if she would make it. She did and is a healthy old kitty now but it was very scary.

Yes! As far as I can tell, Hoddy Toddy is doing quite well ... a piggie little poop machine like normal. He never stopped eating his heart out (such a piggie) and it he never seemed to have any troubles going to the bathroom (such a poop machine). Hurray! Oh, I am so relieved ...
