help

think i have a prob with shauny. posted a thread on here a couple of days ago, saying that i thought he was drinking too much, he settled down after that, but today when i woke up he seemed really ''down'', he came on the bed and was hidding underneath my quilt (he has never done that before). and he just didnt seem right in himself. ive tried to tempt him with his fave fiber sticks and then some broc- he is not touching either, and he hasnt had a drink yet. im going mad, my boyfriend is away with our car and the vets is bout 45mins away!. ive gone to our local shop to get some pineapple juice but all they have is the concentrated stuff (which i bought) is this ok to give or should it be fresh pineapple?. any advice on what i can do would be brill to get, im going out of my mind, cant seem to stop crying.

Take him to the vet when you can.

Is he eating anything, and pooping normally? Have you tried gently rubbing his tummy - this can help break up gas bubbles in case he's not eating because of painful gas.

Pineapple can be helpful in breaking up hairballs, but it doesn't cure GI stasis.

Take a look at this site, and if you think he has stasis, try to get him to a vet ASAP.

hiya, just got back from the vets, ive had to leave him there, my heart is breaking. phoned our rabbit vet (thankgod he was on call) told him what had been happening and he said bring him in now. hes gonna be put on a drip (the vet thinks its gastric stasis). i begged to take him home and look after him myself but he needs a drip and to go in a incubator 2 keep him warm. i cant even think straight. x

I'm so sorry your baby is sick! ::hugs::

I hope he's feeling better soon! You did the right thing by getting him into the vets and hopefully they'll have him back to normal in no time.

Please keep us updated!

shauny is home!!. hes still not out of the woods yet we need to be giving him water and recovery mix every couple of hours, and he has a load of meds he needs to take.
hes on baytril, metacam (i know what these 2 are for)
but ive never heard of these other 2, ranitidine and infacol- any ideas?.
he vet says hes got a urine infection and then that caused his gut to stop moving, which then filled with liquid.

im so not looking forward to force feeding him (had to do it with elvis and it was so distressing for him and for me!). any tips anybody could give me?.
thankyou for all your concern, its so lush to talk to pepole who love them (i think pepole at work think im the mad rabbit lady.
