Hello
Welcome to paw talk!
I clean my rabbits litterbox everyday to every other day, and clean the whole cage out once a week or as needed.
Does your bunny have toys and stuff to play with in his cage? There are so many diffrent things you can do for toys for them! If they like to throw things, you can get them wicker balls. If they like to shred stuff, they'll love an old phone book to shred up. My rabbits love it when I make them little houses with old boxes. They can climb around on top of them, go inside, or just chew them up! There's a lot of things you can give bunnies to play with that you don't have to go out and buy.
Another idea if you can't watch him during outside time, is to get some kind of a pen for him. Examples are an X pen, or I've seen one called "the grreat wall", or something like that - it's made out of plastic that you can roll up to store, then to set it up you just unroll it and make a little pen for them by connecting the ends. Alot of people use NIC (Neat Idea Cubes) to make their rabbits cage - you can also use those to make a pen.
Put a litter box with hay in the pen, and a
water bowl or bottle, and of course toys! Your rabbit shouldn't be able to escape, so he can run around and play in that area without you having to worry about him chewing on wires or pooing all over the house.
Also I don't know if you have the money and space, or the time, for this...but what about getting him a friend? Just remember that to have two rabbits live together, they really should both be fixed - and it takes time to bond them. Not all rabbits bond, but if you take him to a rabbit shelter often times they'll let you set up rabbit 'dates', where your rabbit can meet the shelter rabbits to see who they get along with best. There is a bonding process that sometimes can take a long time, and you can't let them live together until they are fully bonded. But afterwards, it's well worth it to have a bonded pair. They spend lots of time together, keep each other company, groom and play together. Rabbits are
social animals so most of them (but not all) love having a friend, especially when their owners arn't around to give them attention all day.
Good luck! Hopefully in no time that bored bunny will be having lots of fun! Post again and let us know how he's doing - and if you have any pictures, we always love to see those!
