I think I worked it out.

My friends rabbit that I posted up about a while ago had this eye problem where everyso oftern it would get all weepy and sticky. Anyway, I was looking after it for two weeks and when I looked at the sawdust it was very scratch and when you smelled it, the smell was so strong so I thought that it might have been the texture or the smell of the sawdust. When I used a bit with my rabbit his eye got a bit gunky so do you think I am right? I have advised her to use a different one.

I think you could be right hun. All you can do is change the sawdust and see what happens! I personally don't use sawdust for my bunnies as i find it too dusty i stick to good solid wood chippings and lashings of hay and straw!!
Hope the buns get better soon x

Sawdust? Just plain dusty sawdust? I didn't realize you could use that. I would think it would be very messy.
I use wood stove pellets and that is messy enough when it breaks down.

Dragonrain will become famous soon enough
I think you could have figured out the problem! I bet he gets sawdust in his eyes and his eyes water and stuff to try to clear them out.

I've never heard of using sawdust with bunnies before - I would think it would get stuck in their fur and be very messy. I bet your freind will see in improvement when she switches - let us know!
