Litter box "misses"

My bunnies have excellent litter box habits. They have the best of intentions when they hop inside to do their business. The problem is that lately they have been facing the wrong way and their behinds hanging out the front! I've been watching in disbelief as they hop into the box, do their thing, and make a nice big puddle for me to clean up on the floor of the pen. Are these guys just getting too lazy to turn around or what? They never used to have this problem before and they always put their little bunny behinds up against the back. Their litter box is made specifically for rabbits. Any thoughts/suggestions? Crazy buns!

my bunnies have done this from time to time but they have corrected it themselves after a few days. If you catch them in their litter turn them around!!! They'll soon remember again!

I'll try to catch them right when they hop in. Hopefully they will be like yours and correct it on their own!

Well I put some hay in the front corner and it seems to have helped. They go in and turn around the right way to eat the hay. I knew from the rabbit rescue that I got them from, that putting hay in the litter box not only encourages good litter box habits, it also gets them to eat more hay because they like to eat and go to the bathroom at the same time Hopefully it will solve the problem. I never did it before because I didn't like throwing away good hay with the soiled litter. I'd rather do that than clean up puddles though!

So far Lucky Jack has been really good about getting it all in the litter I need to get his neuter appointment set since the vet wanted his bloodwork back first, so that's what I gotta do on Monday, call and check on it and set up that neuter...I don't want bunny pee on the dogs

Yep, spaying/neutering rabbits is a good thing! Before my female was spayed, she used to run around spraying urine and would also mount my cats! It was a site to see. My cats must have thought she was crazy. Mine are good with their litter box. They just face the wrong way sometimes. Sounds like your bun is very well behaved for an unaltered bunny.

Yes, he is! Especially for a bun that was left in a room all alone with no interaction what-so-ever! He even likes the dogs! Kali went to "visit" him and he licked her nose through the cage! It was so cute to see such a little bunny tongue licking a pitbull nose! LOL! Kali licked him back though and he just sat there! He even closed his eyes from the pleasure of getting a bath from the dog! LOL! If my camera had been charged, I would have gotten pics!
