Question

Loosing fur?

As our rabbit 'Charlie' was about nine months old when we got him, we do not know what to expect, he has started to lost his coat, but under neath is a new, shorter coat. Will this happen every year or is he loosing his baby fur. Also, we are worried about his hearing he does not respond when we call him, but if he smells something especially chocolate he comes running.

I would say it is his baby fur ..does he go outside at all ? and he is a rabbit not a dog rabbits dont come to their names unless you have raised them from birth I have a few that seem to respond to me talking to them but they do associate me to the feed bucket too so I think you are ok that he is not responding to voice commands ... silly rabbits if only they would.

thanks for this . He spends a lot of time outside, though when someone is it home and the weather is fine, the patio door is left open and he comes and goes as he pleases. If the weather is bad, he will spend most of his time in the house - -the only time he spends in his hutch is at night, and the times that there is no one at home which is very infrequent. Are we spoiling him do you think ? A friend of mine has had a rabbit for years and it very rarely gets out of its hutch.

Most of my rabbits do come to there name.I have rescues of all ages and they do learn to respond to there name ,whether they are very old or young. You may want to have a vet check his hearing.
