Molly is 7 months old!!!

Molly just turned 7 months old. Hormones are in full swing. We can't even have our feet near her or she is nipping, scratching and you know what . She is not fun when she is like that. Her cage is a mess with poopies all over and now she is spraying. I assume that is what it is...little puddles on the floor. We were going to try rebonding with Lucky as soon as his injections are finished...but if she is behaving like this he will have absolutely no patience with her. Because she was recently ill...the vet does not feel comfortable doing a spay just yet. At this age, is this a continous daily cycle with the poops, spraying and circling or does it go away for a bit and come back later in the month. It has been going on a few days now and I have had enough already.

hiya. i feel for you because i have just gone through the same thing with shauny- he was unbearable!. in the end it was non stop, he never had a break for a few months (but he is a boy, so not sure if it would be the same for female buns) he just got worse, in the end i couldnt sleep with my leg/arm or even head some nights out of the duvet because i would wake up to find him, nipping, growling and grinding against me. and then he started weeing on the bed (only when i was in it mind) but it meant i was changing my bed at least once a day (in the end i put plastic bin liners down and then a sheet on top and slept under that) but it is soul destroying when the bunny who loved you petting them, and used to lie still turns into a nightmare, only after one thing.

i was terrified about getting him done, but it wasnt fair on me or on him- so i took the plunge (after spending weeks searching for a rabbit vet). that was about 11 days ago, and he is much better. he still gets a little 'excited' sometimes and ive been told that that could take a good few weeks to settle down, but he hasnt wee'd on the bed once.

think the op is gonna be the thing to sort your baby out.

i hope your bun gets better soon. x

Ophelia never got the hang of the litter box until after she was spayed. She always poo'd and pee'd outside of the box.
If she has some days where she is not acting up I would not think it would be too many. Bunnies can have babies so fast they must go into heat a lot.
Call your vet and explain the situation - maybe they can spay her sooner. Maybe the fact she is acting like this means she is all better.

Dragonrain will become famous soon enough
Rabbit's actually don't go into heat like dogs and cats do. They are induced ovulators, which means that that doe releases eggs in response to mating.

Because they don't have cycles the way other animals do, their hormones are pretty much raging all the time - they can mate and become pregnant at any time, except for when they are already pregnant. Unfortuantly, that means you most likely won't get a break from the negative behaviors until you get her spayed. After you get her spayed, when the vet feels it's safe of course, give her alittle time because it can take a couple of weeks for their hormone level to go down. But once it does, her behavior should improve.

Also, I wouldn't recommend you try to bond her until after the spay. Her hormones could make her more aggressive with your other bunny and you don't want her to start any fights or anything.

We have recently renovated our place and don't really want her spraying everything so she is not getting as much out of cage time as before. Also, if she is marking her territory everywhere we won't have very much neutral territory left in our house for bonding. I have noticed she sprays mostly while I am trying to clean her cage so I can understand her possessivness. Her litterbox is stained right up to the rim now not just in the bottom corners. What a little "stinker" she has become. It has been 8 - 10 degrees above zero the past two days so we have taken her out on a harness to run around. She is mostly chasing my kids to circle there feet. If I can, I will post the video. I love watching bunnies hop!!!
