Molly Update

Molly has started eating more this evening and she finally started to poop! She was doing so much grooming today that I put the collar on her for a while and will do so again tonight. It is so hard to tell if they are cleaning their incisions or their bottoms. I monitored her all afternoon and evening yesterday and she was mostly sleeping so I didn't think she would need the collar on but by morning all the stains from the soap and antiseptic were off so she was very busy through the night... but the incision looked fine. How long does it take for the incision to heal enough that their grooming won't infect it? How long does it take for the fur to grow back? She doesn't venture very far yet outside her cage. She still does a little bit of humming when she comes out and her cage is still clean!!!!!!! Lucky seems more content with her back beside him. He pushed all his toys (that he never uses) to the middle of his cage so that he could sit and lay in the back beside where Molly was resting.

Yay! I'm glad Molly is eating and pooping again! I don't think anyone is ever as happy as rabbit owners are to have to clean up poop everyday!

That seems like a good sign that Lucky wants to lay next to her! Hopefully the bonding will go well when Molly is all healed up.

Healing takes diffrent times in diffrent individuals, but rabbits usually heal quickly as long as they are healthy. Her incision should be starting to heal in 7 - 10 days, with complete scar formation taking up to 2 weeks - give or take. Little Molly should start healing up and feel back to her normal self in no time!

Woke up this morning and Molly had her collar off. The vet tech. said she worked it off the first night too. She has her cage all rearranged and there is a 4 inch pasty poo pasted to her hay (probably cecals that she couldn't get at). She is way more energetic this morning. Yay!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks everyone. Although she had more energy this morning she still seems to be quite sleepy. It looks like she sleeps while she eats and she will hop around a bit and stop and close her eyes. Does the metacam make them drowsy?
