my bunnys losing his hair


ok.. my bunny aussie which is a boy is losing all the hair around his ankles and its just falling out its bare and dry i dont know what to do. does anyone know what it is or why its falling out?? everyday it seems to get worse i really wanna take him to the vet but my dad just keeps saying lets wait and see. He is eating and drinking fine he doesnt eat any veg. or fruit just pelets hay and water nothing is different it was an all the sudden thing please help thanks -milya

hi there. i'm sorry aussie isn't doing well it sounds like he should see a vet. tell your dad that 'wait and see' won't work because it won't kill him, he's just uncomfortable i'm sure. try to blackmail him lol cry or something, it worked for me, on with the waterworks and progress here we go!

Do you see any white flaking? You said it's dry. It could be mites (don't worry my vet told me we cannot get the kind I am talking about). I had a bun that had them and they just kept getting worse. Finally I showed the vet. With a few inexpensive shots given a week apart she was fine in no time.
It was such an easy fix and my vet charged very little for the shots.
I may only be shedding but it's better to be safe than sorry.
Has he ever had a check up? Maybe you can talk your dad into by saying he should get checked over once in a while anyway?

he has never been to the vet he is not even a year yet but getting close its not flaky it just falling out the skin just look dry
