New bunny owner
I'm a first time bunny owner, and just wanted to say hi. My fiance has mentioned in the past that he'd like a bunny someday, so when I went Christmas shopping at the flea market and saw an adorable $10 bunny, I had to get it for him. I wasn't planning on getting him a bunny for Christmas, but he was too cute to pass up. He's brown/brindle and white, 6 months old, and a big bunny. I'll try and get some pics later.
Any advice for a first time bunny owner?

Aww, congrats! My best advice is to get him neutered, haha! Because he's hitting adolescence right now and will drive you insane otherwise .
Also, check out this website: http://www.rabbit.org
It's the best site for bunny info .

New Bunny
Congrats! I agree on neutering the bunny - it will definately make him a happier guy. He needs lots and lots of timothy hay, I recommend Oxbow Bunny Basics for the first 6 months, then switch him to Bunny Basics T. He can also have alfalfa as a treat.
They love salad - but keep him to green leaf, red leaf, romaine lettuce. Baby carrots, parsely, apples, pears, sweet potatos.
Bunnys sometimes can be litter box trained. You can try a square box in his cage with yesterdays news.
They are huge wire chewers - so watch him very closely when he's out playing. Bunnys are really affectionate and very smart, I think you will have a great time!
Looking forward to seeing pictures!

Definitely get him fixed. Oliver is already being much better behaved since he was done. He is much better with his litter box too. Always add thing slowly to their diets. My two are about 4 months old (at least that is what they said at the spca) and they are on the Oxbow pellets 15/23 (or something like that). They like them. Make sure you give him plenty of hay. Oliver tends to eat more hay than pellets. Ophelia prefers the pellets. You can put the hay in his litter box to encourage him to use the box. Make sure you use a bunny safe litter. Do not use clay kitty litter. Always be sure they have fresh water too. Go to the house rabbit society's site they have wonderful information. And be sure to get a good bunny vet. That site can tell you where to find one in your area.
Good luck with your new baby boy!

Get them fixed!! Be prepared for a long hard road if they are not trained. They can be a bit much to do so with some, especially with not fixed bun's. My bunny was trained and everything as I got her from a good breeder, and she still has tempermental fits, thumps at me and nips...and she don't nip us to be mean as it is not drawing blood or bruising, she ain't no small bunny. She does it more affectionately. Plus you really need to get the right cage. I would suggest one from Martinscages.com or make one out of the cubes!! Don't spoil them, give the standard healthy pellets, my sisters bunny is so spoiled he wont touch the pellets anymore. So she has to get him to get all sorts of things to make up for him being so picky. Plus they need a good amount of veggies!! Check sites for what are good and not. Get plenty of Timothy Hay not Alfalfa as the pellets has plenty of that in it. Also get Papaya tablets, found in health departments. You give the bunny it once every week or 2 weeks and it helps prevent hairballs, and they like it b/c it is sweet!! My bun is litter trained and has her own room in my house, she is spoiled lol!! ALSO wood chews are important. Always have something for her to do and take her out to play for a few hours!! Good exercise and then they don't get board or depressed!! Good luck!!
