Jane, my best friend actually asked me about this the other day so I looked it up. She is very into fashion and has some angora clothing, but she loves animals so she was concerned. Angora comes from either angora rabbits or angora goats (mohair). The hair is removed by shearing the animals. I don't think that angora rabbits are killed for their fur, but I doubt most of them live the best lives on rabbit breeding farms where they are kept in huge numbers. I've read that male rabbits may be killed at birth because they do not produce as much wool as the females. Animals that are bred for fur/wool usually eventually go to slaughter for their meat.
IMO there is always cruelty in any industry that mass produces animals for their flesh, fur, or skin.
