OK... This is the story!!
Kevin and I were swinging between a flying squirrel or a ferrit. Luckily I got a bunch of help on the flying squirrels because I learned that I just wasn't the right mom for one right now. When I started thinking more and more about the "down"s of having a ferret I just didn't know what to do because I really really wanted a ferrit. They're so funny to have a watch run and play... So Kevin and I went to Roly Poly to get a bite to eat and for fun we were gunna to into the pet store that we got our dumb dog from... Well... You know how I am!! I walked over to the birds and played with them for a while- The watched a man with his two kids play with the puppies through the glass over by the bunny cage while Kevin was playing with the bunnies. "Look" he says. (OOOhhh and what a mistake!!) So I look at the bunny he's holding.. It was spotted black and white like a cow... As I scanned the bunny cage looking for one to pick up, I saw Kevin pick up this chocolate colored one and he was soooo calm and so interested in our voices and hands that he just sat there, very relaxed but alert... I tried to pull myself away from his little ears tugging at my heart by picking up a different rabbit but I couldn't-they all scattered away from me, and oh this one that Kevin has is sooo cute!! He handed it to me and I melted and that was it.

Thanks! I hope to learn alot more about them... I barely know anything. Can bunnies swim? What do you do about bathing? Do ya'll know what kind of bunny we have? I tried to look it up but they look alike, alot of them do.. How do I get him to play/ when will he get used to us? What can they not have as a toy? Sorry so many questions, I just got an animal that I don't know much about!!

I've never tried to see if my bunnies swim cause they hate water!!! They will groom themselves enough so that they should never need bathing....however occassionally their poo can stick to their fur and you'll have to get that off for them...don't want the poor things getting flystrike. One of my bunnies doesn't groom himself properly so he gets a bath every 3 or 4 months. I can't bath him too often cause the more baths I give, the less he grooms himself. He looks like he could be a netherland dwarf, possibly not a true one though cause his ears look a little big. He could end up becoming a mini or dwarf lop. Their ears don't flop until they are a few months old. give him time to get used to you...let him get used to his surroundings for the first couple of days then start really patting and handling him. A lot of bunnies don't like to be picked up but I find that if I pick them up from day one they have no problems with it. The more time you spend with your bunny the more enjoyment you will get out of them. Bunnies are very social animals so be prepared to spend lots of time with them...they also like their own companion as a general rule but my Molly prefers to be a human! If you go to www.rabbit.org and go to the bottom of the first page you will find the links to behaviour, care, health etc. Have a good read up on that site! It has some fantastic information!! If you need any more info let me know!!

WOW! That site has sooooo much info!! I made some houses out of 3 boxes that he can play with when he softens up to us a little bit more- we had a small incident with the bunny and our pug the other day- scared the poor bunny to death, but everone is ok... I also got some little balls off the back of my socks because I hate those little balls and I gave them to him. He has alot of toys and we're in the process of cleaning our room so he can run around freely when the dog isn't in there until they get the right inroduction!!
Anyways- the bunny, I think he's sick. Maybe an eye infection or something. I'm going to call the vet tomorrow to see if eye solution for people is ok on rabbits. I know it is for most all other animals. He's got some white mucus (?) comeing out of his eye. I think it's his right one. Well I really need to go get in the shower to get ready to go eat some turkey!!! Please pass some good thoughts to us... Im really angry at the pet shop.

Rocheal don't wait...get your bunny to the vets NOW. A weepy eye is a sign of myxomatosis but it can also be just a simple eye infection but it will require it's own medication. Letting these things go can cause blindness and it will spread to the other eye. I can't stress this enough....take your bunny to the vets NOW. Don't hesitate....I don't mean to scare you but I have a bunny going through the exact same thing at the moment and know how important it is to get there ASAP! Let us know how he goes.

I just got home a read this. I've been out all day. Went to eat thanksgiving dinner at my family's house- then went to Kevins And Ate Again. We got home and the bunny had passed away. Im so upset. Im so upset. It was just an eye infection... I really thought that that was all it was. Im so upset. Because I felt I could have prevented this. Im so angry at Randy's Pet Shop right now because their birds don't look healthy either. And mad at myself for going to a PET STORE and getting an animal. Specially one whith not healthy looking birds. Im not bad mouthing all pet stores. It's just I've had bad experiances with them all. I don't know what to do. Im so upset. What do I do? Im just mad at everyone at the moment... Im sorry if I sound like... off the wall....
