Winter= cold temperatures and possibly sick bunny

Here's a picture of my newly build hutch and Thumper's old cage.

I connected them to make it bigger for him!

I just need some ideas for insulating and stuff.

I would put a board over the cage to make a roof. I might use a shower curtain to protect it from the wind, and fill the hutch with plenty of hay. It looks like the new part has a glass front and back. I would probably drill some holes in the wood for some ventilation. It looks like Thumper is going to have room to exercise this winter, which should make him pretty happy. The Humane Society used to recommend (before they formed a partnership with the HRS) that hutches should be six feet long. I think you did a great job on that hutch.

What about some plexiglass? Could you use that to guard against the wind. You do need to make sure there is some venilation. You don't want the poo and pee smell to build up.

the wire cage and hutch are connected. He doesn't go to the bathroom in the hutch part. the wire cage is like a really big litter box =] that way the pee and poo doesn't stink up the hutch.
