Ever been to a section looking for a thread you just KNOW was there and can't find it?? The default is set at 30 days, so anything older than that is not displayed. At the bottom right of the post listings there is a box that says "order, from" - and you can change that from 30 days all the way to the beginning to see all of the posts in a section. HTH!
