Calcium

I have a quaker that I just took to the vet...I was wondering about her tail feathers they seemed to always grow in damaged and then fall out again. This had been happeneing since I got her but at first I didn't realize they were damaged and unless you look really close you wouldn't notice and they would always fall out before i got her to the vet this time I got Lucky so he was able to see what I was talking about. He said its probably a calcium issue he gave her a calcium shot and liquid calcium to put in her water. She refuses to touch a cuttle bone. She is already on pellets and veggies. What else can I do for her. And how ling before I should see improvement?I am wondering if might not have been her parents were defecient(sp) and so therefore so is she?Any suggestions are welcomed.
