Introducing.........
Ok well, I'm not sure who i'm introducing since we don't have a name yet. BUT.. here's the story.
A few weeks after we lost Carmen my hubby was really missing her. Then when he got a check in the mail from va that was more than his schooling costs he decided he wanted a bird. *sigh*.. ok, i'll cave.
He researched and found a breeder in Fl and bought a b&g macaw. We asked for one weaned and sexed. So last night we get to the airport and here's this not yet weaned baby bird. It seems the airline sent our weaned baby to another lady and her bird (she wanted unweaned) to us. Granted, I could put this baby back on a plane and they'd make it right.. but I won't do that. Fortunately, I know how to hand feed a bird (did it when i worked at a pet store before) and I have a friend that used to raise parrots who said she'd help anytime i needed her. So, we're just gonna keep the baby.
I have to tell you.. Cleaning Carmen's cage to get it ready for this bird was a hard hard chore. I did it though. Hubby is beyond excited so I guess all in all I can't complain to much. Sadly, she has yet to be introduced to pellets, seeds, or fruit.. what a shame. Well, she has now. (not sure its a she.. just keep saying that). She is super sweet though and I just love her too.

HA!! You're one of us (crazy macaw people that is)!!
I'm sure you will love having this baby around! And I'm glad you have handfeeding experience because macaws can really pump on the syringe. I hand fed Tob so let me know if you have any questions.
Congrats Chrisanne, she's adorable!!

ACK!!!
Not another one!!!
I thought everyone knew that REAL birds have short tails!
Those Macaws, with their beautiful long colorful tails, just cause your nuerons to misfire and become just like Jodi and Kay... SLAVES to the bird!!
Us Amazon and Cockatoo owners have MUCH more discipline. (We at least get to pretend, ...occasionallly, that we are in charge!)
(Congratulations!! She's adorable! Sometimes fate sends you the bird you really need, instead of the one you ordered! JMO..)

Hi,
Check the leg band, maybe that will have info as to sex. If not, maybe the breeder has info that can be given to you based on what info is on the band.
Have Fun, the little "woodgie" is gorgeous!!!

the breeder did not sex the bird so they don't have that info. We'll find out soon though since we had the test done.
