Ostriches -- a Curious Bird Indeed

What is an ostrich anyway? You know, that big tall bird with a long, skinny neck, feathers,
big eyes, long legs, and runs a lot.
According to Dr. Pam Walker, large animal veterinarian at the University of Illinois College
of Veterinary Medicine at Urbana, "Ostriches are ratites. Ratites are a species of bird that
have no keel bone, are flightless, and have poorly developed pectoral muscles."
