Time Flies ...

I cannot believe my baby is a year old today already! I swear it seems like just yesterday I was talking to Wendy about which baby I wanted.

Last night while watching American Idol Sapphrie would get real chatty everytime someone started to sing - out of nowhere we hear (3 times even) "HI SAPPHIRE" We turned our heads so fast I'm surprised our necks didn't snap. lol

Today I came home from work a couple hours early because I had a terrible headache & took Sapphire out of her cage to give her a shower.

While in the shower she actually started flapping her wings as if she were actually enjoying her shower for once! That was a first. Even though it was fairly warm outside, I still used the blow dryer at least on her head - I don't want her to become affraid of that too if I stop using it for the summer.

After the shower she played for a bit:

THEN ... after playing for a bit I decided to give the harness another shot ... Of course she played miss toughie & fought me on it ... BUT --

She let me put it on & KEPT IT ON!!!

(I failed to put her harness on her all winter which made her affraid of it. I have been trying for a little over a week to get her to stop running every time I pull it out.)

She is such a baby, yet such a big girl! I love her to pieces!

All I can is WOW!!!!! OMG is she ever gorgeous.I would love a Macaw ....but I live in a basement apartment and would never do that to a large bird. They sooooo need that space. Not to mention the neighbors might get a bit miffed at the noise...LOL. As it is with the Tiels and quaker...when I am not home...I know they go at it and I hear about it from time to time. Not too often just every now and then. The tiels aren't that Loud but My quaker...if I leave the room she gets loud...She loves me and wants me near her all the time!!! Rotten spoiled brat!!

I know Stephanie- I am horrible - sorry

Here is the latest update (yesterday) I sent to her breeder:
Quote:
She is doing well as are we. She is definitely MY baby. She still loves to cuddle & quite often has to be reminded to be gentle as she tends to play rough sometimes. She has gone through 1 complete molt now & is in process of growing in new flight feathers & tail feathers. She does more mumbling than talking but has a tendency of blurting things out unexpectedly as a one time only thing. For example, on Saturday mornings I usually check my email before taking her out of her cage. If I make even the slightest sound & she hears me I get “mooooooom, HURRY UP!” When I get home from work & she hears me walk in the door I always get “wanna step up”. Last night we were watching American Idol & every time someone would start to sing she would get real chatty --- out of nowhere we heard (3 times even) “HI SAPPHIRE”. She grows by leaps & bounds! She knows how to wave using her feet & will correctly (most of the time) wave with whatever hand you are using. If I am facing her & raise my right hand to wave she raises her left foot (same side of her body) She does the same thing with the other side too. She gives kisses on command, most of the time, and continually rolls over on her back to cuddle or play. She also dances & hops as well as climbs down of her play gym, constantly to come “find” me (I try to discourage that though). She actually enjoys the shower now, as long as I use the mist setting on the shower head, as she does not like the regular show/rain setting. She even lets me blow dry her with the hair dryer. So far no emergencies (knock on wood) with the exception of her chipping the tip of her upper mandible & we had to file it down a little so it wasn’t so sharp. She is now due for a nail clipping, however I will be taking her in to the vet for that as she won’t let me come near her with a file or clipper (I am not honestly confident enough to clip her nails though without hitting the quick). I made the mistake of not putting her harness on her all winter so when I took it out last week she ran from me & would have nothing to do with it! I worked with her a bit though & today she let me put it on her again!

Now you're pretty much upto date

Kerri- she can't go to fest

They have banned all animals except dogs (& I think cats) now. it would have been a great socialization experience for her too.

BUT! She will still be going outside with us to other places

They banned all animals but dogs and cats?! Why's that? I assume that all the regular Fest employed animals will be there? Horsies and geese and all those others... o.O

But at least you can take her elsewhere. I'm sure you'll find fun other places...
