Good question Jane! There is a dominance issue but also birds have a tendancy to give *warning* bites/nips and your face would be the closest thing. Toby will give us a *warning bite* is a stranger gets too close or if it's someone he doesn't like.

I don't let Toby on my shoulder much but on the other hand my hubby lets Toby up there all the time. It's another one of those birdie debate issues.
