This new budgie realy is starting to become a handfull and is a cheeky little so and so.

I am also having problems sexing it as the Cere keeps going from Brown to Blue and back again and now is half of each.

If it does turn out to eventualy morph into a cock I realy dont fancy calling it Albert.

My mother put Vic in a propper cage while I was away in Ireland but on the cages return to my flat she escaped through a badly designed food bowl and got her foot chomped on by Dickie.

Of which the vet said the toe would dry out and fall awf ?


And to make it worse I only just modified the cage tonight by blocking the space where the food things were off with custom fit pieces of wood.

I lifted her temporary cage down a small squared wicker cage of which is domed and to my shock and I had noticed her doing the normal budgie thing and going up and down the cage sideways all day.

But I could'nt see from down here when she is up there in her temporary cage . There was two lines of dried up blood where she has been doing her frantic sideways walking all day on it's Sand sheet. And drops the opposite side of the cage where she has finaly given up doing her sideways budgie thing and jumped onto the perch and her feet have been dripping it.

I am pretty sure this budgie has a death wish = ^ x ^ =



Well I have moved her into the proper cage now as I found the time to make those two pieces of wood to insert.

Sounds like Victoria is a girl if the cere is turning brown. A female in breeding condition's cere will turn brown.

There shouldn't be any sandsheets in the cage and I think the reason why is pretty apparent.

Well I had a look at Vic this morning and her claw and a small section of toe have finaly fallen awf.

Also when I got home I found her flying around in the front room , seems she has found a way around my cage modification.

How on earth she managed to slide that piece of wood out I dont know . I find it hard to believe she is smart enough to lift either size up a bit at a time until it comes out.

Thats the only way I think she could have gotten out.

Then why do they sell sand sheets and have done for years , even the packet has the picture of a Budgie on it , Kangesan.

She done the damage to herself , either she is intelligent like the Rabbit or she's stark raving mad to do that to herself.

Maybe I can teach this one to do tricks ?

Yeah - I wouldn't use the sand sheets either, especially not for her.

She sounds like quite a character - I'd definitely try to teach her some tricks ! Are there pictures posted anywhere of this little stinker ??

As for the cere color - I think it was Dena (?) whose budgie with a blue cere laid an egg after years of her thinking she was a he.
