Does it make any difference what water you give a bird? I've heard some say buy a bottle of distilled and other say to just give them tap water and if you have a water softner give them bottled.

I'd say regular bottled water. Some tap/city water is treated and can sometimes not be good for the bird.

No, it makes no difference. I'd not give my bird bottled water over tap water though. The standards for what goes into bottled water are significantly less than for what comes out of your tap. Just because you pay more for it doesn't make it better. If you come from any reasonably sized town or city in the US, your tap water is as good or superior to bottled water.

When you fill your bowls, be sure to let the cold water run for several moment. Running hot water can leach more lead out of your pipes and fixtures than cold. So, if you've just washed your bowls in hot water, take a moment or two to let that hot water get out and then fill your bowls.
