I looked at all the caged animals in the shelter...the cast-offs of human society. I saw in their eyes love and hope, fear and dread, sadness and betrayal. And I was angry. "God," I said, "this is terrible! Why don't you do something?" God was silent for a moment and then He spoke softly. "I have done something," He replied. I created You."

re more parrots
LOL tell me about it. I have started a rescue for unwanted parrots recently and hopefully I will be able to rehabilitate them to loving homes but if not and they stay with us my hubby is going to set up outside avairy for them. we are also setting up commerical orchid greenhouses and half of one will be avairy so they will not be outside but sheltered. hopefully i will be able to make it work. i am looking for male congo as my timmy went to my hubby she is female. and kicked mommy to curb and i got the big boys but they are not like a grey at all. I would like to have a macaw either b/g or greenwing or a scarlet. those are the 3 that i really have had interaction with. both as when i was helping a breeder with hers and in rescue that i was involved with up north for about 4 months. I found that I really had a talent to work with abused parrots as I can understand what they have went through as I myself have been there. sorry this is so long.

I already posted my birds and wanted to say something else and it was to late to edit mine.
Does anyone know about a place called MAARS?
it is a place were they rescue sick neglected birds and help them.
I am not sure if the one in Minnesota is the only one or if they are all over. My brother volunteers there on Mondays and I sent in my application acouple of months ago and never got a reply. My brother said it was because they had a problem (someone went around feeding Snickers bar to the birds.)

I have two young budgies - Phil and Lil. They're absolutely full of life, and really make me laugh! Phil is a (mostly yellow) and green pied and Lil is a (mostly white) and blue pied.
They live in a Ferplast Brio Medium indoor aviary - which they use to the full! They love the space, and though I was told they wouldn't use the height, they do. They use every inch of space in it as well as their 'free-time', and they play with all their toys.

Gorgeous Grays, Deb. I've had three and have finally decided that I just AM NOT an African Gray person, although I do love them.
I have and Male Eclectus (Henry-that's him w/my name); a female Senegal named Mojo, but we call her Moji sometimes and the other day she started singing in a distinctive way and I called her Yoko Ono; and a Parrotlet name Pip who will ring the bell in her cage when I ask her to.
I've got baby fever and would love to have either a yellow nape or double yellow head amazon parrot, or a cockatiel. (That's from one end of the spectrum to the other, isn't it?) But we'll just wait and see. Zoe (my g'daughter) keeps saying she's going to give me her 'tiel until I get to KY, then she changes her mind! BeeBop is a beautiful white-faced gray that I hand raised and he's a wonderful little bird - or would be if Zoe was old enough to take care of him and/or Erin didn't have a one-year old hanging onto her!
Christi, you shoulda called me for bird types!! BTW, the pix of Ryan are adorable. He's all grown up! I've got some new pix of the girls, but you all know how I have blank spots when it comes to remembering how to post things like that!!

Sorry, Jodi - my sound must be turned off. Didn't hear that bird say a thing!! I guess if one is that pretty one doesn't have to speak, right? What a beauty!
