Preventing a Lost Pet

• *Make sure you have a securely fenced yard.
  
  *Don't leave your pet outside unattended for long periods of time.
  
  *Cable your pet if he/she is a fence jumper.
  
  *Cats are safer if kept indoors.
  
  *Make sure that whether your animal stays inside or outside in a run that these are tightly secured and locked.
  
  *Have your pet spayed or nuetered to reduce their urge to run.
  
  *Travel with your cat in a carrier or your dog in a kennel.
  
  *There are also gadgets available to secure your dog to the car seat.
  
  *Never travel with your dog loose in an open truck.
  
  *Keep your pets inside during thunderstorms and things like fireworks displays. These frighten pets and they will run to hide from them.

my pets are also microchipped and it does help. It has returned one we had that was a total runner.

If you have a truck and need to travel with a dog, get a cab for it.They cost about 300$ new and you can find them for cheap if you look around.
