rat stroke

my 2 year old male rat had a recent stroke. he has lost the use of his back legs. he is currently on steroids -presidone. i dont think he will regain the use of his legs. he is alert, drinking eating and going to the bathroom., and moving with front legs. vet warned me of possible bladder problems if not emptied out. he lays on baby blankets and i move him frequently. he gets a bath every night. any suggestions on making his life better and any info on squeezing his bladder would be helpful. he is also very fat which doesnt help
