Big Adjustment

I am so stuck in "chinnie mode" that I'm having trouble adjusting to the fact that jirds can eat pretty much anything! LOL This will take some time...

Right now I am giving them a gerbil mix - they need an extra protein source, so Georga suggested Peanuts. I went out and got some last night, added them to their food, and they were gone! lol I have also given them apple, which they seem to like.

Among the list of things they can have - pretty much any fruit or vegetable (they love raisins as much as chinnies do!), dog biscuits, cat treats... some people even feed them table scraps!!

I don't know if you have them in your area but Petco sells a hamster/gerbil mix that has peanuts included.

I checked the ingredients of the one I'm using last night and they're in there - but not many. And I really don't know how much they need. (Georga!?!)

I give Old Mother Hubbard Bitz dog treats to my hamster. They are tiny pieces and are good for the teeth as well. This should also help with the protein.

I tried some chicken but they didn't eat it. I heard they like roasted, so maybe they're just being picky and the chicken I had didn't have enough flavor!! LOL
