Cage pics

What do you cages look like? I am still building onto the one I have for my 3 adult rats (which still is small) but will be alot bigger soon. The small pink ham ham cage has 4 baby ratties in it, but they will be transfered to my old rabbit cage Akina used until she had her own room, and then try and see how they get along with the older boys and if they get along they are going in with them or if they dont like each other, building another cage.

Yeah,I had a look at different ones on there.Chinchilla and cat ones are big enough and good for rats too.I looked at the measurements and alot of them are similar to the rat ones.

Well this one is a "Cat one" I want it cause it is HUGE!! I want the The Kitty Penthouse (C-470), but a bit too much for me to have to save up for..I am giving my sister money to hold on to save up for this one!! HEY if it is good enough for a cat, good for a rat This is The Kitty Hotel

48" x 18" x 48"
Four levels
One half floor
Two 2½" plastic slide-out pans
Six ramps
Four balconies
...and a Partridge in a Pear Tree

MAYBE it would be CHEAPER to MAKE this cage not buy it...Just thinking on conversion to Canadian funds, :S

Is there a floor above the slide-out pans? If there is that's not very good for them because the ammonia will build up faster because they won't be moving the bedding around to "dry" it. And if there isn't then they could easily slide them and get out.

Yes, there is a floor above the pans as that was why I wanted it. I have been caring for rats for a long time (since 1999) so I know very well about their care. IF you leave any bedding too long, wether they move it around or not, the ammonia will build up if it is not cleaned. It is cleaned when it is needed. Just because the bedding is dry, don't make it 'safe'. There would be high levels of ammonia and other germs building up, if should be cleaned wether being dry or not. Once every few days.
