I know I found one too today, almost stepped on it. Looking at your pet list it doesn't look like you have dogs or cats, so if you put out the poison you would just have to make sure you put it in places your daughter, absolutely couldn't get at. Can you tell approximately where they are getting in? So far I've been able to figure out the places they are getting in so I've put the poison in those places out of reach of my furchildren.

I do not have my own dog or cat,but I do foster dogs.I just had one go to it's home last night and I might be taking in another really soon.Thats why I do not want to poison down. That and also I have a daughter who gets curious about things and just by chance if one of my pet rats or mice got out and got into it.
Also I am pretty against that stuff,as the animal suffers before it dies! And even tho I don't want these wild mice around,I don't want to make them suffer. The only thing I would use that would kill them would be a snap trap because it is quick.
I am not exactly sure how they are getting in,but I did find a small hole in my bottom cupboard which I assume they are coming in thru, especially since I heard them in there the other night.

I agree about the poison, but I'm being invaded, and I really don't like spring traps at all. The only thing with the live traps is you have to be vigilant about checking them otherwise the animal may starve to death. can you nail something over the hole in your cabinet to see if that keeps them outside.

I could always try that.
I am not sure if there are other ways they could be getting in.But so far the only hole I seen was under the sink in the bottom cupboard.
It has been a few days now and there hasn't been any signs of mice.So maybe there was only one and the dead one was it...unfortunatly I do not believe that,as this house is really old and since it is winter, they will wanna move in here for warmth and food. But I don't think there is an infestation.

traps
There are these "sticky traps" that you can get a canadian tire. they're just extreamly sticky so the little guys feet get stuck, then you spray the feet with cooking oil, and put them in a jar, and at night, take them to the dump and let them go.

I am very against sticky traps!
I got two kittens,so hopefully when they get bigger they will keep the mice away.Actually I have not seen or heard any signs of wild mice in weeks now.

It's okay.No problems.
I just heard horrible stories about them and once had to help a neighbour remove a dead mouse on a glue trap and it was not pretty. His body was all twsited around and stuck to the trap,so he obviously suffered. She was afraid to touch the trap and asked me to remove it for her.
And one of my sisters tried to free a live mouse that was stuck on a glue trap and she said she will never forget how much he screamed and screeched. She managed to free him,but he died in her hands.

I am just not a fan. It's okay tho.

I've heard of people using a really simply type of trap when their own pet mice get out... Get a bucket with straight sides (so the mousey can't climb out), and use a ramp to lead up to it. put bait at the top of the ramp, and in the bucket, and a lot of times they will follow the bait, and fall into the bucket. then when you find them, you can relocate them, no harm done.

Its a good thing you're against poison because if the mouse eats the poison and then a cat or dog eats the mouse, the cat or dog gets poisoned! I would buy live traps that shut when you close them and put some cheese or something in there When they come to eat the cheese the cage closes and you can take them FAR away from your house

I hate those sticky/glue traps, I don't mean to be nasty or anything but those things are THE MOST INHUMANE way to kill a mouse. The only thing worse are springloaded leg hold traps. Do not buy those glue traps they are horrible, horrible things. (steps off soapbox)
