because people like me hoarde them all, heh.

honestly though, it's been years and I'm still trying to find the PEW spinies.. they DID exist at one point, and overseas there was a BEW born. In CA there's recessive gray spinies, but they're in a laboratory that won't release them to public. There's also melanistic ones but only one I've seen had never bred even once.

only ones I have are the satin, the cream, and white spot (agouti as well, of course).

Well, I've personally never, ever seen them available. Then again, it took me years just to find normal-colored spinies.

I'm sure some people import them, though.

Yeah, I know that you have different colors but you are the only person I know of with those varieties. I want your mice badly, haha. It's not fair .

wow, you should definately start another thread with tons of pics, bc i never really saw how many are even availble

i have a question, are spiny mice that different from regular mice, do they chew more/less, are they afraid of heights like reg mice, would they jump off a table or would they stay on it like reg mice?

also, how much bigger are they from reg mice? is their personality similar than a reg mouse's?

sorry for all the questions, lol

I've never had regular mice so it's hard for me to compare. They chew more then hamsters but not as much as my degus. I don't think they are afraid of heights because mine have jumped off things before . When I first got Isis she escaped and was leaping off tables .

They are more intelligent then regular mice. I find them to be more outgoing then most rodents but they are definately not cuddly animals...although some enjoy being pet a little.

"Regular" mice are very smart. They can be trained...I never trained any of mine, but have heard of them doing tricks.Rats are way smarter tho!

Can you train spinies things?

There were spiny mice in one of the pet stores once and they were super cute and I stuck my hand in the tank and they ran up to sniff me,curious little guys...but wouldn't let me touch or pick them up.They are really cute tho!

I know mice are smart . However, I remember reading studies and spiny mice are supposed to be even more intelligent. And yes, you can teach them things. I'm working on getting them to come when called right now....Isis is pretty good at it.

They seem bigger to me but not by that much. Then again, I've never kept "regular" fancy mice so I don't really know! I've kept hamsters and spinies are smaller then Syrians. If that helps at all, hehe. Spiny mice are very, very territorial so I think housing them with social, friendly "regular" mice would just be asking for trouble. I think that'd be tricky anyways because of the different diets.
