rats for pets
I've never really heard of rats for pets. I'd be afraid to have one because if the MIL ever came over, she'd probably want to step on it thinking something from outside got in!
They are cute though.

GERBILS...
B/C They are active during the day, they don't stink or need to be cleaned often, they are friendly and curious, can live in pairs or small groups, have cute long furry tails, come in all sorts of beautiful colours and live up to 6 years old!
Yup, I'm a gerbil lover.

Between gerbils and hamsters it has to be gerbils every time. They are soooo lovely! But I have never kept rats or mice. But still, gerbils.

I said rats. Although my mom balked when I told her we got the kids a couple of rats. Rats just tend to have better personalities and are friendlier than most other rodents. Trying to explain this to my mother though... What she didn't understand was that the kids wanted a small rodent for their own because they can't really play with the chins. We looked at mice, gerbils, and hamsters, but the rats were big enough for the kids to handle without worrying too much about hurting them, and they loved how friendly the ratties were. My mom still thinks rats are gross, but for our family, they were the perfect match

I have rats, hamsters, and mice. I love my rats, but I have to say that I love mice the best *rats ears covered*
All of the hamsters I have and have had, would be agitated and bit A LOT. I agree that while rats are very intelligent, mice can be just as sweet.

I like gerbils because they are super curious, live longer, smell less, and overall I have 10 years experience with them. Rats I've only had for 3 years and I *could* imagine my life rat-less... Gerbils.. not so certain...
