thanks for the advice. thunder and squiddy are the only fish i have left in the tank. there is another fish-lover like myself at my church. i think that she will take much better care of them than i can at this point in time, so i am giong to bring them to her at church this week. ( i still need to call ahead to make sure she will be there but i DO have her #...) i think after that i will clean the tank out really well and start all over. thanks you guys for all of your great advice. i will keep you updated on how they are doing once i hand them over and will post a new thread someday when i re-start the tank. thanks again for all your help. i will probably be on and off for the next few days until the transfer is completed.

well, i called ahead and she couldn't make it this week. i think i might just keep them now because the ick has cleared and thunder managed to live through the whole thing. i don't know if i should re-start the tank and put the fish i currently have in there somewhere else for a while or if i should just leave them in there and buy new fish to put in with them. if you get on this thread, lixx, could you help me out a bit? thanks!

Well, any incoming new fish should be quarintined, so you'll want them in a seperate tank initially regardless of where they will end up in the end. As the exsisting fish are already a little weak I would put the new fish in your quarintine tank and leave the others where there are now. You'll want to quarintine the new guys for 30days to make sure no internal parasites get them. Also make sure you continue the treatment for 5-7 days (depending on the meds directions) after you see the last spot to make sure all of the water borne young are killed.
When you are ready to intro the new fish (remember don't dump alot in at once, the bioload should not be suddenly increased), do a PWC the day before and be sure to use a stress coat product when you add them to the tank. Remember to let them sit in a bag of their own water for 10-30 mins to adjust to the temp of the new tank. Then open the bag and add some water from the new tank and again let them sit. This is to slowly introduce the fish to the new environment and help reduce any shock. Once that time is over, net the fish into the tank- do not empty the bag of water in. Then dispose of the water in the bag. Hopefully there will be very little reaction from the new fish. Watch for squabling. Depending on the fish, they will put themselves in 'order' but if any one is very aggressive you may have to tank them seperately.

to tell the truth, the fish i have left in the tank don't look weak at all! they swim all day and are very active. i don't have a quarintine tank set up yet as i have no money. (keep in mind i am only 15 and i earn all my money by babysitting...) i plan on buying new fish soon and i hope all goes well. soon may not come for a while so i will keep you updated as to when i am going to set everything up. thanks again for all the help. i really appreciate it.

Well, i havent been on in quite a while. i recieved a breeding pair of guppies from the breeder at church. the female gave birth to 28 fry the day after i got her home and only 2 babies died! she has given birth to 2 more batches of fry with only 7 babies in each and Dutchess has had 2 pregnancies as well. BTW, the names of the breeding pair are Tiger(m) and Lilly(f). Aren't they cute names?! i will try to post some pics ASAP when i learn how to use my new camera!
