AAH! Bad rat >.<

I woke up..this afternoon to find my rat, Spirit's tail covered in blood. At first I thought it was Lucifer scratching up his tail again, but THEN I noticed red stains on his body too! THEN I noticed BLOOD all over a newspaper. I picked up Luci, his tail was also covered in blood.
Apparently they've gotten into a fight, I feel really bad, I heard them squeaking, but I thought it was just Luci's reagular "ok ok, I give up" squeaking -_-
Anything I should do to treat the wounds? I seperated them, but they were sleeping together peacefully, so I guess the worst of it is over.
I hadn't free ranged them in two days, maybe that's why they got so antsy?
Ugh, it's just such a shock to see two bestfreinds doing that to each other, although there's no doubt in my mind Luci's the instigator.

You can clean him up with soap and water (Baby Shampoo or whatever you use to give him a bath) and then put neosporin on the cuts. If the cuts are big, but not big enough that you think you need Vet attention you can use liquid bandages to close them. And then of course Baby him with lots of love and maybe some treats

My girls tend to get on each others nerves if they don't get their freetime. Usually Kaylee just dumps her food bowl.

Hope everything goes well.

*updated*
I cleaned their cuts and put them in seperate smaller cages with the white care fresh so I can moniter their bleeding better, and gave them some icecream for cheering up.
I think they'll be fine =3

great to hear!
i have heard if they fight that bad they should be put together again.
but i trust you know your rats better than i do. if you do want to put them together again i would do some slow introduction like they just met for maybe a week or more.

UBELIEVABLE.
Guys, my rats weren't in a fight at all. Well, if they were it didn't cause all the bleeding I saw.
I was cleaning their cage and I found a ORANGE marker chewed up! It was just ink!
*dies*
When I was trying to clean their "wounds" I couldn't actually find any cuts, I just attributed that to their fur, covering up the cuts!
I don't have much experience in bleeding rats ^^ And also, most of the ink was on their tails, which they usually go after. Only a few times I've found Spirit's tail scraped and with very little blood, I just thought that's what it was but on a much larger scale!

Look! Doesn't it look like blood?
And this is after I tried cleaning it 8D

LoL. Oh dear. THat sounds like something something that happened to one of our rats last week. My roommate put one of the Fruit shaped wood chews in Genevieve's cage, the pink apple one, and she pushed it into a puddle in her cage then dragged her tail through it. Her tail was bright pink for a couple days.

I'm glad they're both ok.

Of course they couldn't be bothered to actually chew on the CHEW TOY I bought them oh no, a marker tastes a whole lot better

Lol, I probably shouldnt laugh but it's so nice to see it was no major injury. Just what a story if you think about it!! I've had that happen with my PD's with a red chewy stick and it scared the living H-double hockey sticks out of me also. Their sipper bottle had dripped on it and they had smothered it all over thier fur. I was in a panic thinking it was blood as these little guys really grow on you particularly with the ban on PD's these days you learn to cherish them even more.

I didn't know whether I could use neosporin or not and I didn't wanna use it then, find out there's some sort of freak ingredient that like, gives them heart attacks or something.

Any way, I'd diffenatly do that instead of the dillutted betadine, it'll be a lot less messy, and less expensive and probably more effective =3
