Baby birdies - Storm

We had a really bad storm roll thru here a couple of hours ago and when I got home from work I noticed that there are 2 baby birds (not sure what kind) laying in my front flower garden - alive. I'm guessing that the storm blew them out of their nest. I have a big tree near the area where I found them. I looked up in the tree but couldn't see the nest and didn't find it on the ground either.

One baby is laying on his back - I can see him breathing - his little chest going up and down. The other baby is on his side and still breathing too. They have very few feathers. They look so sad & pathetic.

Is there anything I can do? Will the mom come back and get them?

I can't touch them because I'm afraid of transmitting some wild bird disease to my macaw.

Oh, I feel so bad and wish I could help them somehow.

Anyone have any ideas? Or should I just leave them be and let nature take its course?

You could call your local humane society or SPCA.

I tried the humane society - they were closed. I'll look for a number for the SPCA.

Thanks Sassy.

That's so sad! I know I'm a bit late, and I admit, I have little to no knowledge about birds, but what about wrapping them in a towel, putting them on heating pads until you can find someone to help you? I know you mentioned being afraid of transmitting something to your bird, but just touch them using the towel and wash your hands thoroughly with anti-bacterial soap afterward. Keeping them in a separate room would probably be a good idea too.......just remember wash your hands, wash your hands, wash your hands (works in the hospital and my red, chapped hands are proof!)

Thanks everyone. I appreciate all your help and support.

I put them in a shoebox with a towel in the bottom and a heating pad underneath the box. They warmed up and were very hungry this morning. I took them with me to work and was able to find a song bird rehabber here in the city I work in. I dropped them off with her this morning.

I'm so glad I was able to find someone to help the little guys. Hopefully they're not injured and will grow up to be beautiful songbirds.

Way to go Jodi!

I have also had the experience of rescuing baby birds. I rescued baby robins one year. I was able to reunite them with their parents. It was quite the experience.
