Baby Ferret sick.

Just got a baby ferret a week ago. Just this morning everything was fine and he was as playful as ever. Evening rolled around and he started throwing up violently. He tried to drink, was fine, then he ate, but then threw it all back up. So we had him just drink some water, but not eat. We've been having him drink every 20 minutes or so, and he's been keeping it down fine. But he's not getting any better. He has a very dark tar like stool and is very fatigued. These are the only other symptoms he has. Help please!

Vet. NOW.

Call an ER vet in your area right now, even if they don't say they see ferrets. Young ferrets' blood sugar can drop rapidly when vomiting and not eating and the vomiting and tarry stool are indicative of a bigger problem.

Based on your IP, it looks like you're near Philadelphia. Here's the university's vet school number: 215.746.8911 It looks like they deal with emergencies and have exotic experience.
