Can someone help me????
Ok, I don't know if I should be worried or anything, but I called my vet and am waiting for him to call me back so I thought I'd get on here & ask you all while I'm waiting...
There's something wrong with Dozer's eye. I just noticed that in his left eye, his tissue (I don't know what it's called, the inside 'lining' that closes over his eye) is stuck in the middle of his left eye. He can't open his eye all the way and when he does, the tissue is stuck... It's not closing like normal... Should I try to wash it out? Does this mean somethings stuck in there? Help

That's his third eyelid. It happens when the eye is irritated or inflamed. Flushing it out with some straight saline or artificial tears couldn't hurt.

Deep breaths babe, it could be something as simple as allergy to pollen. He should be fine.

 I'm horrible, I tell ya
He seems better. He's just been sleeping, but whenever he is awake, I keep looking at his eye. The vet said the same thing as Jade did, to flush it out.

You know we'd rather deal with overly concerned folks than those who wait until the very last minute.
If it makes you feel any better, I was the same way with Praline. I had to stand in the middle of my living room and mentally count to 10 in order to compose my thoughts and think pro-actively. I'm such an overprotective mommy myself, so I know how you feel!

I agree with Jade...flushing it out should help. Every so often Kali or Orion ends up with a hair in their eye..They HATE the saline, but it works It usually takes about an hour afterwards for the inflamation to go down and the third eyelid to function normally again.

I'm glad to hear his eye is better!
My mom's Great Dane kept having trouble with one eye and actually had to have the third eyelid removed. She was fine after that.

we used to have the same problem with our dogs when I was growing up. For whatever the reason the inner eyelid would occasionally lose proper lubrication causeing the eye to sorta dry out if you will... as Scarlette said you can have it removed or you can deal with it... we chose to deal with it since it was not a continuous problem, just keep a bottle of saline or natural tears eye drops on hand JIC. I'm glad he's doing better!
OH and btw, don't worry about being over-protective, that's the way it should be! we can never truly be "too careful" right?
