How old is ur kitten
i know mine tends to chew on things because her teeth are bothering her. And just today she lost one of her aby teeth so it just provs my theory that yes her teeth were bothering her. She doesn't really bite she just chews. For us the only thing that worked was the water bottle but for the kitten it doesn't work as well cus she likes to play in the water, but there are times it does work. I wish i knew what to tell you.

He's two. He's done this since he was teething as a baby. He has abnormally long canines as well... I don't know if this has anything to do with it.

no idea one of my cats has no upper eye teeth i will try to snap a picture of it to show u what i mean and she is almost 2 as well. We have 2 cats that are almost 2 and then the kitten so that may be one of the reasons we aren't having as many problems with the itten as we did with tigger when we first got her cus the other 2 have helpped keep the kitten from misbehaving. I know tigger wa a major brat then we got sox a month later and that seemed to help tigger settle down, i think it had to do with her having a playmate to play with. Talk to your vet about ways to train the kitten, he may know of a way to get him to cut out the bad behavour.

The vet has been after me to get a second one for a while... the cat is fat and sedentary and angry, and the vet has always thought a second would help.

When I was house shopping and making an offer on a house with a lot of land in the country where the cat could go in and out, I figured I'd get a second. But since I ended up in the city with a tiny bit of land and not a lot of space, no second kitty.

I thought he'd like to play with the dog - he had a big time with her when she was his size, but now that she's big, he'll have nothing to do with her.

i live in a 2 bedroom aartment and ya know what i wouldn't trade having my 3 cats for the world. I know that none of my girls will be lonely when they get left. It is a good idea to have a second cat just to help keep the other company and keep him active. Our 3 cats will run around like crazed lunatics at times. It may help settle him down. It may be a pain in the butt to get them to get along but it mite be ur best bet.

I've been waffling about it for 2 yrs now. I almost got one, but then I moved in with parents while I was house shopping and they HATE cats... so #2 was a no go. They weren't happy about #1!

I hate to say it, but I'm really more of a dog person. I'm not sure I can handle two cats - esp if the second is like the first! Two kitties getting into everything, biting through cords & cables, boxes and bags, chewing anything plastic, paper, or cardboard...

And what if my first little butt doesn't like the second? What if the dog eats the kitten? I think a whole kitten would fit easily into the mouth of a Great Dane.

What about the extra litter? Would I need a second box, or could they share? WOULD they share?

well at first Tigger hated Sox when we frist brought Sox in to the home then she acted like she hated her but would play with her under the bed when we were trying to sleep so we figured it out. Then when we brought home Button they didn't like her not they act like her mum and will give her baths and what not as well as play with her. If they can't find one the other 2 will meow and whine until either they find her or we show them where she is. There is no way to seperate them. We have one HUGE litter box that they share, and have no problem sharing we buy the multi cat litter and the box tends to last us about a month. We clean out the litter box at least once a day by scooping out the clumps and what not. what if u got a cat that was closer to ur cats age rather then a kitten, that may help some with getting your other cat to adjust to a new one in the home. As well it will take a week or 2 for the hissing and fighting to die down. Each cat has their own personality, i know ours loves to scratch at cardboard rather then eat it and they haven't chewed on cables other then the kitten when we first got her and that was my lap top power cord or my mouse wire. It is ultimatly your decsion as to wiether or not u get a second cat for your home since it is only you tha tknows what you can and can't handle.

Bah. I keep waffling. I think I'd prefer a kitten to an adult cat - they are small for such a short amount of time.

I really don't have any personal need to get a second kitty, but if getting a second would occupy my first, help him stay active and entertained and therefore less destructive... I'd be all for it.

We took him to meet another cat that we were thinking of adopting when he was smaller, and the other cat just hissed and scratched at him...until he climbed into my lap and hid and cried. I'd hate for him to not get along with the new one and be mean to him/her!

If I were to get a second, would another boy or a girl be better? Or would it matter?

all mine are girls, and i found it took about a week for sox and tigger to start getting along then a week for sox and button and about 2 weeks for tigger and button to get along. The reason there will be hissing and what not isbecuase your first cat will feel like his place is being threatened so when u leave say bye to the first cat then the second. Reassure ur first cat about his place in the home by speaking to him, petting him, giving him treats and what not first then do so with the second. Make sure u don't pay more attention to the new kitten. Since we got the kitten our other 2 are overly active and are even bigger sucks then one would ever think possible. When we go to bed so do the cats and i mean all 3 of them join us in the bed.

i have 3 and would love to have more but have baby on the way so feel three is plenty. I am also a Dog person but living in an apartment i would rather not have a dog here. so for me a second one is a good idea. but as i stated before ultimatly the decsion is urs.

I love having 2 kitties; they really do enjoy playing together. But all your points about having 2 to get into things, chew on things, etc. are EXTREMELY valid. Mine are also 2, and are really rotten. They do take time to integrate with each other, but they usually get along. BUT NOT ALWAYS. You also can't bank on them sharing a litter box. I'd recommend having 1 for each to avoid squabbles over the litter box and inappropriate elimination.

If it were me, I'd have 2...but I AM a cat person, lol. It's a big decision.

If you want your kitty running and tearing around...want to borrow mine for a while? They are terrors! Just kidding - I don't want to share, lol.

I'm thinking I might ought to try to borrow a relative's cat - to see what he does. Newton is SO anti social, he might just hide or ignore the other one. And then that wouldn't help at all!

He & the dog cracked me up last night. She was in one room, chewing on her bone, and he creeped up and cracked the door so he could see. Then he just curled up and watched her, for around 30 mins. Then I opened the door so we could go to bed, and they both just RAN! Fastest I've seen either of them move in the house. Normally she ignores him because he's mean to her, but not last night! She chased him under a chair, and then tried to wiggle her great dane butt under the chair too... didn't quite work. He's smart enough to go places she can't, but she hasn't figured out yet that she's not still that small!
