Question

Cats Leg

I have a nine yr old male tabby who just today began to limp on hisright back leg. He wont let me touch it so I asume it hurts him. He is eating drinking water and using his box the only syptom seems to be pain in that leg. Should I be overly comncerned?

I think you should take him to the vet as soon as you can. He could have fractured it or sprained it. When my cat fractured his leg he would avoid putting any weight on it and it really hurt him. I had to take him to the vet and they put a cast on it. I hope he gets better.

Cats can hide pain very well my cat cut through her achilles tendon and got home on it and carried on as normal, its a defence mechanism they have as they can't show pain in front of a predator so they carry on and grit their teeth. I'd definately take him to the vets and get him checked out as better to be safe than sorry and it could be something quite simple you never know but always best to get things checked out. Please keep us informed on what you find out and how he is doing

I also would advise a vet visit. Any sign of pain is never good. Please let us know what they say.

What they said! My Hobbes broke his leg two weeks ago. He didn't growl, he ate, he didn't even bite or scratch me when I touched that leg. Only a limp. Cats have a much higher tolerance for pain than humans. An injury that would have a human passing out in shock just has a cat growling or whimpering. They need us to take care of them and know better than they do themselves what they need when they are injured.
