Olivia is back to moping around the cage and her diarrhea is actually a bit worse today. I cleaned her up real good yesterday with a baby wipe to make sure all of the mess was off her little bottom and today it's back. How long should I expect this drug to take effect on her actual diarrhea? I'm certainly worried...

I haven't caught up on all the threads yet (still reading at GL), but I would give a fresh "piggie poop cocktail" from one of your other healthy pigs as a probiotic. Smush a couple of poops in a bit of warm water and feed it by syringe.
Also, have you tried banana and/or a bit of oatmeal to help firm things up a bit? Off to read some more to see what else has been suggested....
Poor girl

Now that is comPLETely disgusting. I have fed her bananas, to no avail. I am feeding her plain yogurt with active and live cultures for the probiotic effect. Shouldn't that be enough? Or should I go forth with the poop cocktail? (Really!!)

SP, you really should (really!)
I finished the GL thread and see that several others have already recommended it as well. Sorry the idea grosses you out... but look on the bright side, it can't be any worse than wiping a runny hiney
Personally, I would skip the yogurt as it is a dairy product. I would definately go with the PPC (piggie poop cocktail) and the acididopolous and/or benebac.
Have you tried the oats? Not a cure, but to help firm things up while waiting for the culture results. I think you said she is drinking well too.. but you might consider doing 2 water bottles. One with plain water, one with water and plain unflavored pedialyte mixed.

Olivia does not have any squishy poops stuck to her butt this morning! I am also seeing firmer poops in the cage!
Could it be? Could she ACTually be getting better?!!

Well, I spoke too soon. The Flagyl made her very sick, increased her diarrhea tenfold and made her anorexic -- she managed to stay on it for 4 days.
She's been off of it for 2 days now and is still anorexic. I'm force/hand feeding her mushed up pellets and water, baby sweet potatoes and nonflavored pedialyte. I just recently ordered and am expecting the delivery tomorrow of Critical Care and can't wait to get her started on that.
And I fed her a mushed up poop from her cousin Abby in her pellet gruel mixture. Now I just wait for the Critical Care to arrive on my doorstep.
Vet says to keep doing what I'm doing and that she should bounce back from this shortly -- said it's irritated gut flora from the ABs. We'll see. Oh, yeah -- she's also managed to lose 7 whole ounces in the past week!!

I'm afraid not too well. I've been force feeding her Critical Care, cousin Abby's poops, baby food and pedialyte. This child will NOT eat, no way, no how. I absolutely detest having to force feed her, probably more than she hates having it done, but she's just not gaining any weight. I don't see any squishy poops in the cage so either she's not eating enough to produce them or they have firmed up and the Flagyl actually did the trick. Who can say for sure -- I'd place my bet on the Flagyl having cleared it up.
Poor thing -- she is just reeling from the after effects of the Flagyl. I dunno what else to do for her except force feed her 4+ times a day and give her lots and lots of love.
Please keep prayers going for her -- I just can't lose another one like I did my wonderful Spot. I just can't go thru that heartache again -- I'm still not over his loss.

My thoughts are with you both, SP! I hope Olivia will be feeling better soon! It sounds like you are doing all you can for her and I'm sure she knows that you are doing it out of love.
