hampster ear problem - Paw Talk

My hamster seems to have a large black lump protruding form it's ear, i domn't kniow whether it is an abses or something, please reply as sson as possible.

Sounds like maybe a tumor or an absess he needs to go to the vet either way!

do you know any signs to which of the two problems you suggested, and also what would be the procedure for both of them

I agree with capn. The procedure for either case would be something only a qualified veterinarian can do.

well i am taking him to the vets as soon as is possible, the only problem is that it will be a few days before that i can get there and so i would like to know if there are any signs which point to either of the two options given, i also would like to know the procedures taken by the vets for each of these.

When you take him in, ask your vet the procedure for each scenario - it varies per vet in what they will do and what medications they may use.

I couldn't possibly speculate, it would depend on what the cause was. Again, something you'd need to discuss with your vet.

I've been to the vets now, i didn't quite grasp what it actually was but hes going to the vets on friday to have it removed, although i was suprised at how much it costs, including the visit yesterday it is gonna cost around £90! When you buy hamster for £10 you never quite expect it to cost you that much
