Hamster Tumor

Hey guys. Since school I have not come her for a few months now, but I'm back now.

In the recent weeks, My hamster Abby has begun to grow what looks like a tumor. It is a big bubbly type thing right abover her right eye. It started as something small, but now it has grown very very big. And just uesterday, I noticed and little crack or something in the middle, which makes it looks like it has bursted like a pimple or something. Im growning very worried for my beloved hammy.

It doesn't look like she is in much pain, but I have seent her sratch it and rub it against the cage wall a few times. My parents will not spend the money to have a vet look at it and remove it, and I still don't know exactly what it is. So does anyone know what it is? And is there any way to reduce it's size and swellign without a vet's help?

Please Respond!

A vet in my area gave me discounts because I'm a student. I'm sure if you call you can work something out. It was only like $30 for the visit. Maybe you can arrange to mow the lawn/do chores for your parents for money. One thing that usually seems to work with parents is "I'm trying to do the responsible adult thing for my pet, mom/dad. This is very important to me and I will do what I need to get my pet help". There is also no harm in calling around to vets to see what prices are. Your parents can't get mad at you for using the phone. If you have some prices of the vet visit, maybe they will see that you are serious about getting your hamster help and help with money.
It's worth a try, right? Parents are big softies a lot of the time!

Well hopefully it works out. Remember, if one vet charges a lot, it doesn't mean another will. You have to find the right vet for you. Like I said before, some vets will give discounts, so it never hurts to ask.

I've been looking for a vet to neuter my pup in the new city I live in. I found that costs can range from $400-$85. That's a huge range :O
