wierd! bleach clean everything and take hammy to the vet again. sounds infectious

Ive begged and begged but I cant get anyone to take her to the vet

If i did take her, the vet would laugh at me for taking a hamster. She did have a broken wheel a few weeks ago. I think that she hurt it from that. but it would be better by now if it were from a broken wheel. I dont think its infectious because ive been playing with my other two hamsters while she had the swelling and they are fine

Im gonna stay calm for hammie's sake and keep an eye on her. Its so weird though, the swelling will go down quite a bit, and then her leg blows up like a balloon a few days later

I dont know if it is something in her cage thats hurting her, if its an infection?

No one will laugh at you for taking a hammie to the vet! they are just as good as any dog or cat! I understand tho, Ruby just got a tumor amd my parents wont let me take her in.

I got home last night from being away with my dad and her leg actually looks better. a week ago, the skin where the swelling is was a little red. now it is normal skin color. hopefully that means the swelling will go away

Well, as long as she isnt in pain, she should be fine for now. What type of bedding are you using?

I dont know for sure, but maybe shes allergic to something? If peoples throats swell up when they eat something they are allergic to, maybe a hammies leg can swell up... Maybe you can try switching her food and bedding as a little experiment to see if one of those could be causeing her leg problem.

Oh, and Ive heard pine can be toxic for small animals, So how about switching her to Aspen?

I have three hamsters and I use this bedding for all of them. Wouldnt all of my hamsters have problems? This is just so frustrating. Poor kagome has been like this for over a month

Its even more frustrating when I dont know whats making her leg swell

Just like people, different hammies are allergic to different things. Just because one hamster has and allergy or problem with something doesnt mean all of them do.

Ya I hate it too when I cant find out whats wrong with my pets. Im having problems with my hamster and one hermie right now... *hugs*
