HELP! My Cat is bitting his tail!

I need help. My 3 month old kitten bit his tail the other day and it started to bleed. He has now lick it a it appear that it is holding on by just a "string" It is at the tip of his tail and he does not appear to be in any pain. He is acting normal. Some friends and neighbors said that it will probably fall off and be no big deal.

I rescued this cat when he was only a week old and bottle feed him back to health. I love him very much but I am a stay at home mom and have NO extra money to take him to the Vet so I thought maybe some here would be able to help.

I know that this website is not a substitute for medical help however I am hoping that someone can offer advise or other references. I would really appreicate it.

Very Concerned,

Simba's Mom

It could fall off and be no big deal, or it could get a major infection and be a huge deal. I'd very much recommend a vet visit. The sooner you go, the less complicated it will be. Cleaning it frequently with warm soapy water is about the best you can do.

Best of luck.

PS
Keep in mind this kitty will need vaccines, probably need de-wormed, and you should have him combo tested for FeLV and FIV as well, so a vet visit will be needed in the very near future.
