I was wondering if anyone can help me, I live in saudi arabia and the town i live in doesnt have a vet, my cat oscar who is 10 months old is very very ill, I was wondering if anyone could help me find out what is wrong with him so I can get him something to make him feel better his symptons are:

Drinking alot of water
Urinating alot (strong smelling)
Not interested in anything doesnt play, wont run walks very slowly
His nose is a very pale cream colour when its suppose to be pink his pads of his feet are exactly the same colour
He sleeps alot
He breaths very heavily and very fast
He still eats but he's loosing weight too fast he's very skinny.

Could it be a liver problem or a kidney problem.....
So if anyone can help me please email me at:

Dan,
I am so sorry to hear about Oscar. I have Emailed you some possibilities of what may be wrong, but like I said in my email, he needs to be seen by a vet. There is no way of knowing what is wrong without the proper bloodwork. Its unfortunate that there is no vet there, I am sorry to hear that as well.

Dear Angel,

Thanks you ever so much for your reply, the possibility of him getting into something poisonous is very likely, the compound i live on has lots of cats on it where the gardeners try everything possible to keep the cat population down so whether he has been poisoned or not I do not no, but it is more than likely that oscar could have an infection and/or kidney or liver infection

It is possible that I can get antibiotics and fluids out here for him but I just didnt know what to look for, so if you tell me what he needs then I could use your help to administer them as well as the correct dosage to use, it is definatly worth a try.

I dont understand what Lactated ringers are, Amoxicillin I can definatly get hold of but how many times a day do I give 100mg to oscar and needles Im sure I can get hold of but what will I be needing those for?

But it definatly cant hurt to try antibiotics and fluids.

Thank You so much for your help and I hope to hear from you soon.

Dan,
I have emailed you some more suggestions.....but just as reminder to you as well as anyone who reads this thread...it IS NOT reccomended to treat your pets at home unless directed by a veterinarian, and I am not a licensed vet. I only know what I know through working in the vet feild for 10 years. I would never reccomend treating an animal at home without seeing a vet unless the situation is as this one, where there is no vet available at all! ALWAYS consult a veterinarian !!

Dan I sympathize with your situation. Yes you need a vet if poison. They do a charcoal solution to the stomach to get the animal to throw up anything that is still in the stomach. However in your situation too much time has allready passed and the damage is probably irreversable. It usually hits the internal organs to the point that in most cases the animal is lost if not caught in time. Hopefully this is not what has happened but the only way you will know for sure is to have the vets to take a look and go from there. If you are not in a position to get it to a vet then do what you can for the baby. All I can do from here is say prayers for you and the furbaby and hope there is a turnaround...

The only suggestion I can make is, if there isn't a vet in your Town, then move heaven and earth to get to a Town which does have a vet. Use the telephone can call a vet. The cat sounds gravely ill and will be suffering.

Other possibilities- if you are lucky, it isn't poisoning, in which case I would start by checking to see if there is a flea infestation, which would produce these symptoms if it was severe, or even internal parasites. Either case would cause dehydration, weakness, etc. and should be treated immediately; as they CAN kill.
