Leg Swelling
I don't know if this is urgent, I hope not, but here I go....
Last night I found on my dog's shoulder, a swelling on her skin that looks like a grape under her skin with a hole in the middle and it was bleeding. I don't know if it's a bite from a tick or a spider or anything beyond that medically. I am making an appointment for her at the vet, but I just wondered if anyone has experienced anything like this. It is very strange. It seriously looks like someone put a grape under her shoulder. It is the same color as her skin, but the hole is right in the center and now it's dried up, but it was bleeding last night.
Thanks.

Soundsl like an abcess. My vet prefers to let them come open on their own (as this one apparently did), then flush them and keep them open until they heal from within.
If the opening closes too soon, the infection will just continue to build. I'd definitely have it looked at, but I wouldn't call it urgent.

Thank you for your reply.
I got her an appointment at the vet on Wednesday 12/13, that is as soon as they could get me in.
But, I came home from work today and she was so excited to see me, she was rolling around on her back on the floor and she burst it open. There was blood everywhere. I tried to cover it, but it's just in an area that she won't leave covered. Needless to say I was worried about her and had lots of carpet cleaning to do. It was awful. It was just oozing out of her.

I have an update....
My last post I wrote that there was blood everywhere, well she would not stop bleeding. I bandaged it, but it just soaked through. So I took her to the Pet Emergency Center last night and she had surgery!
It was a tumor that filled with blood and had no where else to go. So they took her in and got it out, and they told me that most of these tumors are benign, but they gave it to me to have it tested at the vet's Monday just to be sure. She did wonderfully, they gave her a morphine like drug and she whined most of the night. So thankfully that is all she did. She has a cone on her neck now for the next two weeks and she's not too happy about that, but as long as I rub her ears for her she's ok. The incision has 9 stitches, and the incision looks wonderful, so she is already starting to heal wonderfully. She is taking antibiotics along with her daily soloxine and preds.
So my baby girl is doing well now.
Thanks.
