My cat is vomiting blood

Hello everyone,
I took in a stray cat that we call Molly, a little over a month ago. She has not been to the vet yet but has appeared healthy since she found us. This morning when I woke up, I found a small pool of blood-tinged mucous on the bathroom floor. Since we have 6 animals in our household, I wasn't sure where it came from, so I started inspecting all my animals. Then, I heard a cough come from Molly, and I saw that she vomited mucous with blood in it. It's not completely blood, but the mucous is pink. Molly does not appear to look or act sick, but the blood has me worried. I will definately call the vet when they open in the morning, but until then, any advise?

I have no idea what to tell you! Did you try googling it to see what it could be from? If anything I could just give her extra cuddles. Could she have eaten any poisonous plants or anything poisious at all? Please let us know what the vet says!

If she ate anything poisonous, it would have come from outside and not inside. Our home is also licensed as a daycare center, and believe me, there are no poisons left unlocked. I did a quick search of the house and didn't find anything that she could have got into to that would hurt her. Right now, she's playing with Simba, and she keeps trying to tell me she's hungry. So I know she doesn't feel sick, but I'm sure the blood indicates something is wrong.

Sounds like a respiratory infection. Antibiotics are in order... also, since you have other pets you may want to identify the infection and check your other pets esp. other cats. Could be catchy.

Good Luck!
