he can only eat the HIlls perscription diet?? I'd be calling your vet and see if youcan get him on a supplement if he isn't eating. I"d take him in again... obviously he's not well and soon may come to be very dehydrated if he isn't taking in enouhg fluids on his own.
I hope he turns around and starts recovering. I"ll keep your kitty in my thoughts. *sends healing vibes for Mickey*

By Chrystals do you mean crystals in his urine or is this something else?
My kitty has had to be hospitalized twice because of crystals in his urine. He's on prescription Feline C/D food. My vet wants him to eat that food because it makes them thirsty and he needs to drink a lot to keep from having problems. She also said as an alternative I can give him wet cat food and add extra water to it so he essentially eats the water instead of drinking it. I don't know what your kitty's situation is, but you might call your vet and see if that's an alternative. I also sometimes sprinkle Pounce or another kitty treat over the food if he’s not wanting to eat it. (He goes through very finicky stages.) In either case, you can probably just call the vet and tell him that the kitty isn't eating and find out what the options are.
The other thing, ask them to show you how to feel if his bladder is over full and push the urine out to avoid infection and other problems. (Assuming this is even the same thing.) It broke my heart last time my kitty had an episode of this. He was lethargic for a couple of days after a bath and I assumed he was just sulking. On the third day, I finally took him in. When the vet pushed on his bladder, bright red blood poured out. I felt like the worst kitty mom. But at least they showed me how to check myself and he hasn't had a problem since they put him on the C/D food. He should be glad too because the vet says that if it happens again, he'll have to have a surgery to, um.. how to put this... snip the end off of his little kitty manhood to widen the opening, which I'm sure he won't enjoy.

Okay, I went and looked up the SD and it's different than the C/D. SD is specifically for breaking up the crystals, not just thirst, so ignore the suggestion about wet cat food with extra water. You might still ask about putting something on the food he likes to encourage him to eat it. (Tuna water works good and it would give him some extra water intake.)
You might also ask about the surgery to see if it would help in your case. It's probably a little expensive, but I know with Smoke, it was $1000+ each time he ended up in the hospital, so the surgery might be cheaper in the long run.

He lost 7 pounds?? Wow! My cat only weighs 10. I can't imagine losing 7.
I'm starting to kind of question the vet if they're not checking him into the hospital with everything that's going on. I have no doubt that my kitty wouldn't have made it if my vets hadn't been right on top of things.
Please keep us posted. I know how painful this can be for a kitty after watching my cat go through it. My heart goes out to your poor baby.

to post a picture you can host it on photobucket.com and upload it as a url using the liittle mountain icon. Otherwise you can upload it as an attachment from your computer just like you would sending it through the email. Click the Go Advanced to get your posting window and scroll down past the text box you see a button that says Manage Attachments. Click it and there will be a second smaller window that willa llow you to browse files and get your picture from there.
My aunt has a cat that's near 20 lbs and if he lost 7 lbs that'd be awesome really. The vet always scolds about his weight. I would definately find yourself a second vet that can suggest an alternative diet and hopefully help littel Mickey out. Best of luck!

My cat had crystals too, he was very overweight as well, the vet told me to cease all dry food, because it was the cause somehow of his problem, which I did and he only gets sheeps liver in the mornings and tinned cat food at night, he is very healthy now!!! and it worked with antibiotics from the vet in the begining hope this makes sense
cheers

Aww, I sure do hope your kitty gets better. They had to do that surgery with my sister's cat, Milo, kfielder... poor guy is now terrified of the cat carrier. But, he's fine. Hasn't had a problem since.
Is Mickey neutered? Male cats who have been neutered are more prone to get a UTI.
Anywho, I sure hope Mickey gets better!
