NEED HELP..read pleaseMy retriever has an infected pocket of stuff that never healed

My golden retriever had gotten bit by the neighbors dog a month or so ago and everything (swelling) had went down..I took him to the vet a day after it happened he gave him a shot and some antibiotics now that those are all gone he still has a pocket of infected puss I'm guessing on his upper lip. I think it just needs drained...He used to get pockets like that on his ears and my dad would take a sterilized needle and put the tiniest hole in his ear and drain it. Does anyone know if I could do that with his facial pocket or do I really have to take him back to the vet? Its not getting any bigger or smaller it just wont go away.
ANY HELP WOULD Be GREATLY APPRECIATED...
Thank You!
Tiffany

I agree bring him to the vet or at least call them and ask before you start poking him with needles.

If infection has spread, your dog needs to be on antibiotics. Normally injections are meant to speed up the healing process, but tablet or liquid antibiotics are also given for a longer period to continue and finish the healing process. At least call your vet. Your vet may be able to instruct you on what to do, or not..but their advice needs to be taken because you can make this worse if you try something on your own you are not experienced with. Hope your dad will do that. Good luck.
