Pregnant Cat

I have a pregant cat who is due any day now. This is her first time and I'm kinda worried about her. She is fully grown but is the same size as my 5 month old kitty. She's sooooooo small and soooooo pregnant, she looks like she will pop any minute! I had another pregnant cat, but last on Saturday I took her to the vet because she had a temp, hardly moved, and seemed like she was in alot of pain. She had immediate to remove her entire uterus, unfortunately, one of the kittens had died and rotted, and the rest, even though they were alive, were already decomposing. The doctor was unable to save the babies because they were so far gone. The mama is fine, just depressed.

Anyways, I don't want to lose this batch...
Here are the details of my cat's current situation. As far as I can tell, her mammary glands have been swollen for almost 2 weeks, I can't get her to hold still long enough to check for milk, but my other cat didn't produce milk until she gave birth, so I'm not worried about that. Also, on Saturday I took her temp and it was 98.7. I haven't been able to check it yet since then, I will try and check again tonight. She is acting normal: eatting, playing, drinking plenty of water, etc... The things that worry me are her size and the fact that her temp was down 3 days ago abd she has not yet given birth.

Please advise me as to what I should do...
Keep in mind that where I live everything is very expensive, just to take her to the vet to have her looked at would be $70. I'm pinching pennies since I just had surgery done on my other cat, and it wasn't cheap.(but worth it, of course)

Please take her to the vet... any animal that is pregnant should be examined by a vet prior to giving birth to make sure everything is ok....
Call around, there has to be a vet in your area that charges less .... the vets in our area vary greatly on vet charges especially for shots and routine checkups.... some charge $120 per dog for annual shots (not including rabies) others charge $50 per dog and no office visit. Get out the phone book and do some calling and bring her in ASAP if you are afraid she will have problems birthing.

I just found a vet yesterday. It will only cost about $35-50 to get her checked out and dewormed.(she lived outside so I know she has worms) It's about 45 minutes from where I live, but it's a good deal. Unfortunately, I couldn't get an appointment until next Tuesday, that's 5 days away and she is due any day. I guess that's all I can do for now. If she gives birth before then I guess I can take advantage of the appointment and go ahead and get the babies dewormed too.(If possible)

Good new, my cat gave birth. I put the pics of the babies in another thread, but I'll put them here too.
