I am exhausted, but Ricky's hanging in there, he's staying between 411g and 419g and is taking the pedialyte with a little bit of food in it. I've been talking to the vet and he said that I'm doing just about everything that can be done for him, and to add some baby cereal and nutrical to the mush and try to get him to eat more. Sassy, I have some bene-bac and I've stopped the sulfatrim, do you think thats good enough, or should I still get the yogurt? Thank you very much guys!

I like using yogurt alot better. If the antibiotics are messing with the natural bacteria in his tummy he wont poo and will feel bad. I recommend yogurt over the benebac anyday. Try giving it to him atleast twice a day for atleast a week after he stops the antibiotics (be careful on the amount you dont want diarrhea).

I need some more advice please! Ricky is back down to 408g, but his tummy feels full, not hard, but I'm afraid that if I keep feeding him it will be. I think that since he was up to 420g at one point without being too full, he could take more, but at the same time, he didn't feel so full and I'm scared of giving him too much since he still isn't pooping! I don't know what to do, should I stop giving him food and just keep up with the pedialyte, or should I keep up how I have been? Does anyone have any idea on the amounts I should be giving him? Last night he was taking up to 5 or 6mL of pedialyte, and I've gotten him to take up to 1mL of the mush (2x). I've been feeding him every 3 hours during the day, and every 2 hours at night, but today he won't take as much as last night and I have to use the syringe to even get him to take the pedialyte now. Anyone, please?

Well, Ricky is my little now, I'm gonna leave it at that for now in order to keep my composure. I'll let everyone know what I find out when I get the necropsy results. Thank you everyone for the valuable advice, it will definetly be kept for future use (although I hope I will never need it again). Please don't send a lot of sympaty,I know what kind caring people you all are, but it will make it harder for me

I think I'm ok now, I know that he isn't hungry anymore . I do need one more bit of help though, the vet said that everything appeared normal, but he suggested that I have some tests run (he only did a gross necropsy). Does anyone know which tests would tell me the most? I really don't want to do them all (money issues), but on the other hand, this is my third chin in 5 months that has died of lung failure so it's seems possible that it is something going around...I have no idea what it could be though since it's been 5 months since my boys died and everything has either been cleaned thouroughly several times, or is new since then . The vet should be calling me in the next half an hour, so if anyone can think of something, please let me know. I am going to ask if the samples will keep till monday so I can do some research, but I don't know if thats possible. Thank you everyone!

Ok, it's all worked out, the whole group of tests is $134 (way less than I thought) so we're going to go ahead and do that and I'll let everyone know next week when I get the results.
