stumbling sick hamster

I noticed a little over a week ago my almost 2 yo hamster Mittens seemed to be having some trouble using her hind legs. Everything else seemed to be fine with her at that time though and it seemed to get better within a few days. Now today I noticed her trying to get into her favorite high spot in her cage and she was having trouble and falling over. I took her out and she nipped me a little bit, which she has NEVER done before. I noticed her tail was wet, hopped online and immediately suspected wet tail. A good friend works for a vet that treats hamsters (mine regular one doesn't) and even though they didn't have any available appts, the vet gave her some antibiotic wipes for me to use and said if she's not better in a couple of days to bring her in. So I've been online for over an hour reading and I did find it odd that she's still very active, actually seems almost over active. I offered her a diluted pedialyte drink in a medicine dropper which she loved and drank a good bit of. And I gave her some pieces of carrot, one of her faves and she took it immediately from me. Most of what I've read says that with wet tail they are typically lethargic and uninterested in food or water. She's stumbling badly though and when I went to pick her up again a min ago, she rolled over on her back and acted as if she might want to bite me, and then had a bit of trouble righting herself. I'm going to continue treating the wet tail but are there any other suggestions?

Poor mittens It is probably not wet tail. My hamster coco was 2 years old and had those symptoms before she passed away. I hope mittens is allright and you can pm me if you want to talk about it.

Sounds like a spinal problem maybe a slipped disk or a tumor on the spinal cord. She could have slipped on her wheel or something.

Thanks for the recommendations. Poor mittens passed...took her last little breath in my hand. i think she had gone into hibernation and did so with her pouches full. I found some information about bringing them out of hibernation and was doing so and thought she was gonna be okay, and I think she choked on something in her pouch...it was a bit tramatizing. The family is sad but we're doing better.
